What is the advantage of this folding pocket knife?
Released in 1990, the original Spyderco Endura and its smaller counterpart, the Delica, literally redefined the concept of today s folding knife. As the very first lightweight, clip-carry, one-hand-opening folders, they set a new standard. The fourth-generation Endura continues to set the standard as one of the best-selling folding knives ever made. In the process, it has also spawned an entire family of variations to meet virtually every user s needs and preferences.
The direct descendants of the original model, Endura 4 Lightweights feature skeletonized stainless steel liners and injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon FRN handles. They come in a full spectrum of colors and a variety of different grinds, edge configurations, and blade steels. Specialized versions include one with an Emerson Opening Feature that automatically opens the blade as the knife is drawn, a blunted red-handled trainer, and all-new hand-dyed Zome versions with multicolored handles.
Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Initially, the company focused on selling our first product the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker primarily at fairs and trade shows around the country.
In 1981, the Glessers put down roots in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carrying at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife.
Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, their innovations have also earned them an impressive portfolio of patents and industry awards.
FRN is a nylon polymer mixed with glass fiber that can be injection molded. Lightweight and extremely strong, it is used in the majority of our lightweight knives.
This clip is the most commonly used on Spyderco knives. They are either black coated or satin finish depending on the model and can be adjusted to multiple carry positions.
A high-carbon stainless steel produced by the Japanese firm Takefu. Also known as V-Kin-10, or literally V Gold 10 gold signifying quality , it is a very popular cutlery steel that is widely used in kitchen knives and other types of cutlery applications. VG-10 is an ingot steel with an alloy composition that offers an excellent balance of edge holding and corrosion resistance.
In the 1980 s, the original Spyderco Endura blazed a trail as one of the first lightweight clip-carry folding knives. Today it remains one of our most popular models and continues to set the standard for all other knives of its breed. Now in its fourth generation, it has also inspired a broad range of variations to meet virtually every user s needs and preferences. All Endura 4 Lightweights are distinguished by their skeletonized stainless steel liners and injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon FRN handles. This version of the design features a full-flat-ground VG-10 stainless steel blade with a PlainEdge cutting edge. This slim, highly refined blade grind creates incredible edge geometry and a distal taper that reduce friction for superior cutting performance. The blade is supported by a sturdy back lock mechanism that locks it securely open when in use yet allows easy ambidextrous lock release. Available in a variety of color choices, the handle features Bi-Directional Texturing for a secure, non-slip grip and a four-position hourglass pocket clip that supports left or right-side tip-up or tip-down carry. A highly evolved expression of a proven, workhorse design, this version of the Endura 4 Lightweight is sure to serve you well.

I ve been EDC-ing the Endura 4 for about two weeks now. This is my first Spyderco as well as my first VG10 steel blade. The knife easily takes and holds a RAZOR sharp edge. The blade was sharp out of the box. Seems to have a 30 degree inclusive edge, which I have touched up on the Spyderco Sharpmaker 30 degree side a couple times. I was concerned about the size, but with the light weight of this knife, EDC is a breeze. I was torn between this knife and the Delica. I am glad I went with the Endura... I m sure their will be a Delica in my life in the near future though.Read full 82 ratings for Spyderco Endura 4 Lightweight Folding Knife – Green FRN Handle with PlainEdge, Full-Flat Grind, VG-10 Steel Blade and Back Lock – C10FPGR at Amazon Reviews
